Hi,

I cannot comment on the PIN issue, but a LAN link LED going orange is an
indication that the device only has a 10 Mbps instead of 100 Mbps link. I have
seen this in the past from time to time, mostly because the Ethernet switch the
LANCOM is connected to is slowly going south.

Best regards

Alfred

Thank you Alfred and Georg, yes I only use mobile internet as I live isolated with no fixed telephone line. I never had problems with the Lancom until this problem occured.
I use an Option GlobeTrotter card slided into my 3550 wireless, and I can only have internet connection this way.
Last night, in an attempt to solve the original problem, I think I have f....ed up the router...ok I explain: unfortunately I decided to bring back the Lancom to the factory settings by pressing the reset button (at the back) for more than 5 seconds (all leds turned red).
I subsequently tried to upload the firmware LCOS 7.80 into the router (because the factory firmware doesn't have UMTS option) but for some reason it failed to do it properly. I knew that uploading new firmware always involves some risk but until now I always was successful.
Now the router seems stuck and my PC doesn't recognise it anymore...the PC doesn't reach the router.
When I click on LANConfig, the window open but I can't access the router, I can't configure or do anything.....after the initial check in the status bar it says 'HTTP error'.
Does anyone in this forum knows how I could solve this problem?
I'm not a company, I just use the Lancom in my house because someone recommended it to me when I was looking for a router that gave me wi-fi with mobile connection.
Noone here seems to know much about Lancom products so I hope this is the place where I can solve the problem...I'm using a friends PC right now but I will try and check the discussion daily.
I'm even prepared to send the Lancom to someone who (unlike me) knows what he's doing. Thanks again for your help.

Dear Maurizio,

please connect to the device using the serial (COM) port. Have a look at the present firmware configuration and post the result: dir /firmware/table-firmsafe

When upgrading your device, first use the so-called converter firmware LC-3xx0-CV-7.54.0005.upx and then upgrade the firmware. Here's the firmware images: ftp://ftp.lancom.de/LANCOM-Archive/LC-3x50/. You can also upload the firmware images using the serial port (X-Modem) if you cannot connect via LAN: do /fi/fi

Don't plug the Option card during these steps. What does the "MOD"-sticker read (on the bottom side of the device)? Unpower the device, plug out Option card, apply power. Does it start normally? If the Option card is causing a reboot, please also post the result of "show bootlog" command.

In the case the LAN interface is broken, we still have plenty of spare parts here at LANCOM service centre... but from what you said, I think there's another issue with your 3550.

regards,

Martin

Slightly difficult on a 3550...unless he drilled a hole into the
front bezel...

Best regards

Ah ah funny ah ah thanks for your help...really THANKS...
I managed to solve the problem thanks to a local networks enthusiast....with his PC he manually created an IP address to create a connection for the LAN network....than disconnect and set it to automatic....and connect again..than it acquired IP address and he could access the router via the browser....I was amazed when back home I found out that all my different configurations were saved in LANConfig whereas in the manual it says it wouldn't have saved any configuration.
