Ich teste jetzt den LX-6400 zusammen mit dem LC-1702B, gleiche FW und gleiche Konfig wie der 1700er = 10.72.0291RU4.
Ich kann den 1700er einfacher gegen den LX-6400 im Wohnzimmer tauschen.
Das nur der Vollständigkeit halber.

Irgendwie tue ich mich mit dem Mitlesen der Beacons auf den WLAN-2 Schnittstellen (5Ghz) schwer:
Beim LC-1702 kann ich unter Packet-Capturing nur WLAN1-raw auswählen. Dort finde ich immerhin die Beacons auf dem 2,4GHz Radio (s.u.).
Beim Capture auf dem LX-6400 im RAW-Modus finde ich gar keine Beacons. Wonach muss ich im Capture suchen?

Auf was hast du das "WPA-802.1X-Security-Level" (LCOS: /Setup/Interfaces/WLAN/Encryption/WLAN-X/WPA-802.1X-Security-Level) konfiguriert? Auf was beim LCOS-LX AP "/Setup/WLAN/Encryption/<Profile>/Method" sowie "WPA-Version"? Einfacher wäre es noch, wenn du vom LCOS AP die Setup/Interfaces/WLAN-X/Encryption Tabelle, sowie vom LX-AP /Setup/WLAN/Encryption/Profile reinkopieren könntest.
Ich hatte dort nichts eingestellt, sondern nur die Werkseinstellungen verwendet.
Beim LX-6400: nur DH-19 aktiviert (war Default)
Beim LC-1702: Standard, secp256r1, secp384r1, secp521r1 (war Default)
Testweise habe ich auf dem LX-6400 DH-19, DH-20 und DH-21 aktiviert, dann wollten sich die Apple-Geräte nicht mehr verbinden.
Danach hatte ich ich bis auf Standard und secp256r1 alles auf dem LC-1702 deaktiviert, das ergab beim Roaming (LX-6400 -> LC-1702) eine falsche MDIE.
Woran erkenne ich, ob das FR auf dem LX-6400 klappt? Steht das im Log? Beim LC-1702 wird das mit "Fast-Transistion succeeded" geloggt.
Könntest du testweise auf beiden APs PMF ausschalten - also lediglich WPA2 fahren?
Auf beiden APs ist noch eine SSID mit WPA2-Enterprise und optionalen PMFs. Auch damit verursacht das Roaming vom LX-6400 -> LC-1702 den Logeintrag "falsche MDIE" auf dem LC-1702.

Könntest Du mir kurz beschreiben, wie ich an die Beacons jeweils auf den 5GHz-Radios komme?
Dann würde ich die nachliefern.

Beim LC-1702 kann ich unter Packet-Capturing nur WLAN1-raw auswählen. Dort finde ich immerhin die Beacons auf dem 2,4GHz Radio (s.u.).
Beim Capture auf dem LX-6400 im RAW-Modus finde ich gar keine Beacons. Wonach muss ich im Capture suchen?
Hier bin ich wohl etwas betriebsblind gewesen. Wie ich selber nachvollziehen kann, sind die Beacons in der onboard Packet-Capturing Funktion im LCOS-LX nicht enthalten. Was auch Sinn macht - diese werden eigenständig von dem WLAN-Modul in dessen Firmware (ähnlich einem Offloading) erzeugt und landen nie im "User-Space" wo man es aufzeichnen könnte. Die einzige Möglichkeit wäre hier ein externer Packet-Sniffer, d.h. ein USB-Stick oder WLAN-Modul unter Windows/Linux im Monitor-Mode. Ich glaube das geht jetzt vielleicht technisch etwas zu weit. Alternativ müsste es aber im Packet-Capturing Raw-Modus in der Authentication (Response) vom LX-6400 zu sehen sein, wenn du dich mit dem iPhone anmeldest (Zusatz: hier antwortet der AP schon auf die angefragte Methode vom iPhone, wodurch es möglich ist, dass er seine weiteren konfigurierten und angebotenen AKMs schon nicht mehr auflistet). Zusatz: das 2.4 GHz Modul im LN-1702B ist ein "älteres" 11n Modul, welches keine eigene deratige Firmware (intern auch "Direct-Attach" genannt) am Laufen hat, und die Beacons noch im LCOS selber erzeugt werden, daher kannst du sie im Packet-Capture auch sehen.

Weiterhin kann ich in deinem Packet-Dump vom LN-1702B sehen, das du zwei Auth Key Management (AKM) Suites konfiguriert hast. Deaktiviere bitte "SHA256" (/Setup/Interfaces/WLAN/Encryption/WLAN-X/WPA2-Key-Management). Bzw. ist das mindestens abweichend zu dem Authentication Request vom iPhone aus dem vorherigen Mitschnitt vom LX-6400. Dort könnte es sein (was ich erst in den Beacons sehen würde ...), das du nur eine AKM konfiguriert hast, nämlich "FT over IEEE 802.1X". Übrigens finde ich bei meinem LX-6402 übrigens gar keine Konfigurations-Option für SHA256 - d.h. dem LCOS-LX könnte diese Option einfach gänzlich fehlen. Lirum Larum: Dies führt mMn zwangsläufig zu einer anderen (berechneten) MDIE ID - die angebotenen AKMs müssen auf beiden/allen APs identisch sein.

Du bist in der Tabelle wohl verrutscht. Die Diffie-Hellman (DH) Gruppen sind für "[26] SAE/OWE-Groups", und nicht die von mir angefragte "Method" (siehe auch auf der CLI: "set ?" im entsprechenden Menü).

Gute Frage: da verlässt mich mein Gedächtnis, bzw. habe ich kein Fast-Roaming konfiguriert. Du könntest beim LX-6400 den Trace "tr # WLAN" auf der CLI aktivieren und dann das Roaming vom iPhone "geschehen" lassen.

Wenn dort ebenso "SHA256" für WPA2-Key-Management konfiguriert ist, ist das kein Wunder :) Prüfe das bitte erstmal.

Die MDIE ist in beiden Captures auch identisch. Mobility Domain Identifier: 0xdac5

Ich verwendet leider kein Linux, sondern Windows. Und ich habe nur einen Windows-Rechner mit einem Wifi-6 onboard Modul, das ich aber wegen Wired-Ethernet nicht benutze.
Die IOS-Geräte sind meine einzigen FR-fähigen Wifi-Clients, mit denen ich experimetieren kann.
Ich habe den alten LC-1302 aus dem Keller geholt, und siehe da: Ich kann die Beacons beider APs mitlesen (2,4 GHZ-Radio)
Wie oben schon beschrieben, ist die MDIE idetisch.
Um die Experimente zu vereinfachen, habe ich die betreoffende SSID auf beiden APs auf das 2,4-GHz-Radio (WLAN-1) beschränkt.
Das Schlüsselmanagement ist für die SSID ist weiterhin WPA3+Radius.

Danke. Ich kann jetzt zumindest in dem Abschnitt "Robust Secure Network" (RSN) keine Unterschiede zwischen LN-1702 und LX-6400 bzgl. der Beacons erkennen. Ich stimme dir zu, dass beide jetzt die gleiche Mobility Domain ID haben (0xdac5). Der SSID-Netzwerkname ist ebenso identisch.
Kommt jetzt bei einem Fast-Roaming mit dem iPhone auf dem LN-1702 tatsächlich noch die Ausgabe "invalid MDIE"?

Da du in [0] ja bereits mit @alf29 Kontakt bezüglich ähnlicher Thematik hattest, müssten wir sonst auf seine Hilfe hoffen. Mir wäre sonst unklar, wieso der LN-1702 eine derartige Ausgabe bringen sollte (bezogen auf eine frühere Aussage von dir "Versuche ich das Fast-Roaming mit dem LX-6400 (6.12.0024Rel) und dem o.g. LN-1700, meldet der LN-1700 invalid MDIE") und muss mich erstmal geschlagen geben.

In wie weit der Unterschied in der Option "FT over the DS" hier für das iPhone relevant ist, ist mir nicht ganz klar. Ich würde aber sagen, dass trotz alledem eine Fast-Transition funktionieren müsste, da die grundlegenden Parameter identisch sind. FT-over-the-DS ist ja eigentlich nur eine zusätzlich Möglichkeit um Fast-Roaming nochmals minimal zu beschleunigen. Du könntest es aber probeweise mal auf beiden APs identisch konfigurieren und ausprobieren.

Das Log im LX-6400 ist trotz Wlan trace sehr sparsam.
Ich habe durch das Beobachten der Wlan-Feldstärkeanzeige beim iPhone das Gefühl, dass zumindest das Roaming vom Lc-1702 -> Lx-6400 funktioniert. Ob FT, steht leider nirgendwo. Im Log findet sich nur der Eintrag, dass die Verbindung zum Client hergestellt wurde.
Beim Roaming vom Lx-6400 -> Lc-1702 tritt jedoch das Trennen immer auf. Kurz „Vollausschlag“, dann zurück, dann nach erneuter vollständiger Authentisierung wieder „Vollausschlag“. Im Log des 1702er kommt der Eintrag: „invalid MDIE“, dann sieht man die vollständie Authentisierung.

Vielleicht kann alf29 nochmal helfen.

Desweiteren habe ich noch ein Problem mit dem LX-6400 (das gehört allerdings nicht hier in den Roaming-Thread):

Dieser Thread zeigt ein generelles Problem.

Das LCOS-LX des LX-6400 ist ein OpenWRT mit properitären
LANCOM spezifischen Anpassungen, um LCOS ähnliches Verhalten zu erreichen.

Das gelingt nur unzureichend und triggert immer wieder Fehler we letztens der Zeitrahmen SDID / Falsches Netzwerk Bug.

Um das Problem mit dem Rooming zwischen LCOS und LCOS-LX im Forum zu lösen, müssten sich ein erfahrener LCOS und ein erfahrener LCOS-LX Entwickler bzw. Supporter zusammentun.

Sowas gelingt nach meiner Erfahrung gut,
sobald es eine gewisse Projektgrösse oder auch eine
gewisse Menge an Support Cases vom mehreren Kunden gibt.

Und wenn jemand das koordiniert.

Bei uns stellen wir Fehler möglichst Lab nach,
dann können Anpassungen auch im Lab erfolgen,
bevor das Produktiv System angepasst wird.

Das geht natürlich für den Einzelnen meist nicht.

Da wurde das Zeitrahmen Problem gefixt, das letztendlich eine falsche Zuordnung der Netze auf der Bridge war…

Hallo ts,

da kann ich nur zustimmen. Die unerschiedlichen Eintwickler(-teams) müssen genug sprechen, damit es die unterschiedlichen APs auch tun.
Ich kenne das aus den „eigenen“ Reihen, nach knapp 20 Jahren in der embedded SW-Entwicklung. Allerdings im Bereich Industrieelektronik, die Netzwerkgeschichten sind eher aus „Spaß an der Freud“ zu Hause.
Durch dieses Forum, insbesondere auch von alf29, habe ich viel dazugelernt.
PS: hattest Du eigentlich mit der 6.12rel auf dem LX-6400 getestet?
Ja, ich nutze das letzte Release( 6.12rel).
Ich kann den Titel des Threads nicht ändern.

Wie sieht das denn in der Praxis bei großen Installationen aus? Geht da mal ein AP kaputt und wird gegen einen aktuellen ausgetauscht?
Oder bleiben die Installationen weitestgehend homogen, so dass die Interoperabilität in der Praxis eine untergeordnete Rolle spielt?
Mich würde interessieren, ob in einer homogenen LX-6400 Umgebung keine der o.g. Probleme auftreten.

Ich habe das Ganze jetzt extra nochmal mit meinem LX-6402 (Fw 6.12.0024Rel) und dem 1781EW+ (Fw 10.72.0291RU4) aufgebaut. WPA3-Enterprise (WPA2 + PMF mandatory) mit 802.1X und PEAP/MSCHAPv2, WPA2-Key-Management nur "Fast-Roaming". Ich kann wunderbar zwischen LCOS und LCOS-LX per Fast-Transition roamen (over-the-DS hatte ich ausgeschalten). Dazu habe ich einen Linux-PC benutzt und auf der CLI in "wpa_cli" jeweils das Kommando "roam <BSSID>" verwendet. Kontrolliert habe ich das ganze per Monitor-Interface im Promiscuous-Mode mit Wireshark. Wie gesagt, solange du nicht die gesamte Encryption-Konfiguration von beiden LCOS und LCOS-LX Geräten lieferst sind mir die Hände erstmal gebunden ;) Auf dem LCOS-LX kann ich auf die Schnelle aber tatsächlich nirgends eine passende Ausgabe mit dem Hinweis auf "Fast-Roaming" finden (tr # wlan kernel iapp) - einzig in der Station-Table steht WPA2-Key-Management "Fast-Roaming", unter Fast-Roaming jedoch "No" (was meiner Meinung nach falsch ist).

Hall jfuchs,

toll und vielen Dank, dass Du dich so dahinterklemmst.
Bisher hatte ich den Lcos-AP nie über die Konsole bedient. Jetzt weiß ich erstmal, was genau Du meintest.
Ich baue das diese Woche nochmal auf und werde die Konfig des Key-Managements hier posten.

"Invalid MDIE" bedeutet, daß das vom Client im Authenticate Request gelieferte MDE nicht identisch mit dem ist, was der AP ausstrahlt. Der Standard sagt dazu:
The MDE shall contain the MDID field and the FT Capability and Policy field settings obtained from the
target AP, as advertised by the target AP in Beacon and Probe Response frames.
Das MDE besteht aus insgesamt drei Bytes: der 16-bittigen MDID (die passt ja wohl, das ist mittlerweile hinreichend geklärt).
und einem weiteren Byte mit ein paar Flags. Der WLAN-Data Dump vom abgelehnten Authenticate Request:

Mobility Domain     : ID 0xdac5
listet für das MDE keinerlei Capabilities, d.h. dieses dritte Byte ist entweder Null oder fehlt komplett (den Unterschied kann man im Trace aktuell leider nicht sehen). Sofern auf dem LCOS-AP FT over-the-DS eingeschaltet ist, wäre das schon mal ein Ablehnungsgrund, denn dann setzt der AP in seinen Capabilities im MDE das Bit 0. und das MDE aus dem Beacon vom AP und dem Authenticate Request vom Client stimmen in diesem dritten Byte nicht überein.

nochmals vielen Dank für eure Hilfe. Leider kam ich erst jetz dazu, den LX-6400 nochmal anzuschließen.
Vorweg, Fast-Roaming funktioniert nun. Es lag zum einen an der Einstellung FT over DS im LC-1702.
Und irgendwas habe ich mit der Prä-Authentisierung nicht verstanden.
Gibt es bei WPA3 Enterprise keine Prä-Authentisierung?
Bei den LCOS-APs (Fw 10.72.029RU4) steht der Parameter für die entsprechende SSID auf ja.
Im Status des LC-1702 Status/WLAN/Verschluesselung sehe ich für die entsprechende SSID unter
Prea-Authentisierung allerdings ein "nein".
Beim LX-6400 weiß ich nicht, wo ich den Status sehen kann. Der Parameter steht dort auf "ein"

Jetzt bleibt aber noch ein Problem mit meinen Yamaha Musiccast Lautsprechern. Dazu mache ich aber einen neuen Thread auf.

Es lag zum einen an der Einstellung FT over DS im LC-1702.
Ich weiss jetzt nicht, ob LCOS-LX das mittlerweile unterstützt, aber wenn nicht, darfst Du es auch nicht auf den LCOS-APs einschalten. Ein unterschiedliches Feature-Set auf den APs in einer Fast Roaming Domain gibt immer Ärger, weil viele Clients die Eigenschaften der SSID nicht pro AP vorhalten. Dann läuft der Client beim LCOS-AP mit dem MDE und den Capabilities vom LX-AP auf und dann sagt der LCOS-AP mit Recht, das ist nicht das was ich hier propagiert habe.
Und irgendwas habe ich mit der Prä-Authentisierung nicht verstanden.
Gibt es bei WPA3 Enterprise keine Prä-Authentisierung?
Nope, gibt es nicht mehr. Eine per 802.1X ausgehandelte WPA-SA ist immer an eine bestimmte AKM gebunden, und weil Client und neuer AP bei der Pre-Authentication keine AKM aushandeln (können), gilt dabei implizit WPA2-Enterprise (mit SHA1 statt SHA256 als KDF) als vereinbart. Ich denke auch nicht, dass das noch mal erweitert wird. Pre-Authentication ist auf dem Rückzug und im Vergleich zu FT auch die deutlich schlechtere Lösung, weil der Client dabei mit n APs 'auf Vorrat' eine 802.1X-Verhandlung macht, deren Ergebnisse zum größten Teil dann nie gebraucht werden. Das Verfahren verursacht also viel Blindleistung auf dem RADIUS-Server. Mit FT wird die 1X-Verhandlung genau einmal bei der initialen Anmeldung gemacht.

Wenn Du nur-WPA3 benutzt (d.h. WPA3-Enterprise zwangsweise mit PMF und damit zwangsweise SHA256 als KDF), dann schaltet das LCOS implizit Pre-Authentication in den Beacons aus, weil gar keine dazu passende AKM mehr angeboten wird.

Hallo rotwang,

vielen Dank für deine Erklärungen. Wieder was gelernt :D
Ich habe die Prä-Auth auf alles SSIDs deaktiviert, ich hatte noch eine zusätzliche mit WPA2-Enterprise.

Scheinbar unterstützt LCOS-LX das FR over Ds noch nicht, sonst hätte es ja klappen müssen.
