Lancom DSL/10 Office configuration for 16Mbps

Beitrag von cruelframes »

Hi there,
First of all, sorry for writing in English, but I don't know much german and couldn't find the english speaking forum. I hope though, that you can help me with my problem.
So me and my mates had 2Mbps DSL from telecom and the Lancom DSL/10 Office was configured and worked perfectly with that. Recently we changed to 16Mbps but whatever we do, we always have no more than 2Mbps using the device. When connected direcly to the modem, we got the 16Mb, but otherwise not.
I would really appreciate it, if you can tell me how to configure the devide for 16Mbps connection speed. What exactly option should I choose or something.

Thanks in advance!
Looking forward your reply!

Regards,
Niki

The DSL/10 does have an 10BASE-T (10 MBit/s) WAN Interface. If you use an 16 MBit/ DSL modem there is of course a bottleneck between the DSL/10 WAN Interface and the modem. There is no solution for this, other than to buy another router, eg.: DSL/I-10+ that has a 100 MBit/s WAN interface. ;)

Thanks for your fast reply!
I know this is 10Mbit/sec router, but I thought we can get at least this speed if not 16Mbit/sec. Do you think this is possible at all?

Hi,

no i don't think you will get anything near 10 MBit/s, the throughput that will be reachable, will IMHO be something round max. 3,5 to 4 MBit/s, because of the limited processor performance.
I am not sure if the DSL/10 does support performance monitoring with the latest LCOS version. Please check in LANmonitor, if you find the information "CPU load" under "System-information". Then check if the CPU-Load" will raise up to 100% if you perform a file download. If it does, the maximum limit of the used CPU is reached.

Hi LoUis,
Thank you for being so helpful! I checked LANmonitor, and there's lots of information, but not the "CPU Load" measured in percents. Anyway, I saw the CPU is only 88Mhz, and compared with the current routers on the market, I guess it is pretty low for our requirements. That's why I think we should really consider buying a new one.
Thanks again and Merry Christmas!

Niki
