Die "Serial Line", die ich dann bei PuTTY für die Verbindung einstellen muss, ist mit "Com1" voreingestellt. Kann ich das so lassen!?

Da musst Du schauen, welchen COM-Port-Namen der USB-Adapter dann zugewiesen bekommt. Manche PCs haben ja noch irgendwo einen COM-Port auf der Hauptplatine eingebaut, der im Default nicht herausgeführt ist. Der ist dann COM1 und ein dazu gesteckter USB-Adapter würde dann z.B. COM2 werden.

Der COM Port ist abhängig von deinem System. im Windows schaue ich im Gerätemanager nach, unter welchem Com-Port der Adapter erkannt wurde.
Außerdem musst du auf Speed 115200 stellen.

vor dem Updateversuch das Logging in Putty einschalten (Session > Logging > All Printable Output und dann datei auswählen wo hingeschrieben werden soll).

Die Firmware steht aber danach immer noch bei 4.00xyz. Da hat sich also leider nichts getan

Abschlussmeldung:
Nachdem sich ein Mitarbeiter von Lancom aufgeschaltet hat und wir einige Dinge getestet haben, ist dieser zu der Ansicht gekommen, dass der Switch defekt ist. Das Austauschgerät funktioniert bei gleicher Konfiguration einwandfrei uns lässt sich auch auf die neueste Firmware updaten.
